We offer products/services for sale on this site using PayPal. To avoid learning your credit card information, we’ve partnered with PayPal to securely process payment. As such, we never learn or store your credit card information (some conditions apply with direct ordering). You do not need a PayPal account. PayPal shares your name, address, and email address with us. Please visit our Privacy Policy for more information on the collection of information. Your purchase is not secured until we receive confirmation of payment from PayPal. 

Shipping Policies

Please note, for smaller items such as ornaments, cards, coasters, and bookmarks, we ship via REGULAR Mail with Canada Post and shipments are NOT TRACKED. If you would like your order more quickly and with tracking, please contact us for more information and for cost. 

The time needed to prepare a non-custom order for shipping varies.

Estimated shipping times:

Canada: 2-3 business days

North America: 15-20 business days

Europe: 10-15 business days

Australia, New Zealand and Oceania: 20-25 business days

We will do our best to meet these shipping estimates, but cannot guarantee them. Actual delivery time will depend on the shipping method chosen. 

Customs and import taxes: Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply. We are not responsible for delays due to Customs. 

Exchange and Refund Policies

All STOCK products may be returned or exchanged. Contact us within 14 days of delivery, ship items back to us within 30 days of delivery. Request a cancellation within 24 hours of purchase. 

Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value. 

All CUSTOM and personalized orders are FINAL. However, if you are unhappy with your purchase for any reason, please contact us directly to discuss options for ensuring your satisfaction.

Wholesale Orders

First wholesale order must be paid in full in advance. Subsequent orders are NET 15 days upon written approval. 

Warranties or Guarantees

The Silver Shingle does not warrant the performance of its materials in any environment.

Our supplier of cedar posts for signage suggests they will last ~20 years in the outdoors. "Checking" or cracking is expected in new, natural cedar posts or overtime from exposure. It is not recommended to treat the post with any resin to extend its life. However, painting the post is sometimes preferred depending on the project. 

Due to the nature of the metal and the technique, exact exposure match to the digital images cannot be guaranteed.  Each metal sheet is hand-developed.

A digital proof is emailed to the customer for approval before order is developed.

Custom Image Requirements

  • All photos must be sent separately via email or Dropbox to

  • Save all images as SURNAME_product.jpg (ex. SMITH_ornament.jpeg)

  • Keep file names to 18 characters or less.

  • Photos or files may be submitted as JPEG, Photoshop PSD, or Adobe PDF

  • 8 bit only

  • Images or files embedded with sRGB or Adobe 1998 colour space, CMYK, or Greyscale. Colour images will be converted to Greyscale.

  • File Sizes: Resize your files to the print size of 300 dpi (dots per inch). If you can, resize your images to the following specifications. The following are general guidelines for image size versus developed size:

    • 2.5 x 4” = 750 x 1200 (~1 MegaPixels)

    • 3 x 3” = 900 x 900 (~1 MP)

    • 4x6” = 1200 x 1800 (~2 MP)

    • 5x7” = 1500 x 2100 (~3 MP)

    • 8x10” = 2400 x 3000 (~7 MP)

    • 11x14” = 3300 x 4200 (~8-12 MP)

    • 12x20” = 3600 x 6000 (18-30+ MP)

A high resolution scanned image is required for best quality. It does not have to be in black and white, but should transfer well to black and white. If you are unable to provide a scanned image, please take it to a qualified print shop to scan and email the digital image; an original photograph may be submitted with your order. Once your order is processed, your original photograph is returned. Although we take great care in handling your original photographs, we are not responsible for any lost or damaged photos. 

Images will be reviewed to determined if they are an acceptable quality to be developed on metal. If it is not advisable to develop an image, but the customer would still like to proceed, the customer will be responsible for the full cost of the order regardless of the final result.

Intellectual Property

This site contains intellectual property owned by The Silver Shingle. However, we want you to share our content if you like what you see. You may share our product images and public contact information using social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. We request that you credit: © The Silver Shingle and link to our website ( or social media accounts. However, no products or images may be published without prior written consent.

When ordering ANY custom products from The Silver Shingle, you MUST own copyright of the image or have obtained permission to reproduce the image. We are not responsible for misuse of any image.


This site allows users to comment/leave reviews. Submissions deemed spam will be automatically filtered out and never posted. As such, you agree that:

  • you will not use hateful, abusive, offensive, or obscene language towards others;

  • threaten others with violence; or

  • post material that infringes on another person’s intellectual property rights.

Should you do any of these things or anything we deem inappropriate, we will remove your content.

We will do our best to notify you 30 days in advance of any changes to our policies via social media or an email list. Or we will post a notification on our website’s announcement bar of any policy changes.
